Engineered as a folded dipole, the A3 Bass Module delivers deep, controlled, and natural bass. With four custom 8" drivers and built-in Class D power, it adds scale and realism without the boom of conventional subs.
Designed to elevate music
Developed and manufactured in Denmark, the Børresen Bass Module embodies decades of loudspeaker innovation. From its advanced folded dipole architecture to its fully analog crossover and dedicated amplification, every element is designed to minimize noise, distortion, and room interaction. The result is bass reproduction that is fast, clean, and seamlessly integrated — not added on.
Technologies and Components
The Børresen Bass Module 3 is an active subwoofer designed to deliver deep, fast, and highly controlled bass performance. Powered by a high-efficiency Class D Pascal amplification module, it combines power and precision to seamlessly extend low-frequency response. Engineered to integrate effortlessly with Børresen loudspeakers and high-end audio systems, the Bass Module 3 enhances musical realism with clarity, authority, and control.
Unique Crossover Topology
The Børresen Bass Module features a fully analog low-pass crossover derived directly from advanced Aavik amplifier designs. Unlike conventional subwoofers that rely on DSP-based filtering, this analog topology avoids signal delay and preserves timing accuracy. The crossover allows precise selection of cut-off frequencies between 30–80 Hz with a fixed 24 dB/octave slope, ensuring a natural and seamless transition. Fine level adjustment in 0.25 dB steps enables exact bass integration, while the internal crossover can be bypassed when using compatible Aavik electronics.
Resonant-Mode Power Supply
The Børresen Bass Module employs a power-factor-corrected resonant-mode switching power supply engineered specifically for its Class-D amplification stage. Operating with sine-wave behavior rather than square-wave switching, this supply delivers extremely low noise and exceptionally fast current response. As power demand increases, operating frequency rises to maintain stability and control. The result is vanishingly low output impedance, superior driver control, and a consistently low noise floor even under demanding musical conditions.
Advanced Noise Rejection
Noise rejection is fundamental to the performance of the Børresen Bass Module. Acoustic, electrical, and airborne noise are addressed through a comprehensive system of technologies developed across Audio Group Denmark. Active Tesla coils and active square Tesla coils suppress voltage spikes through counter-phase cancellation, dramatically lowering the noise floor. Analog Dither Technology amplifies the music signal while reducing background noise within the crossover circuits. Anti-Aerial Resonance Coil technology prevents RF interference from entering the signal path by absorbing and eliminating airborne noise. Together, these technologies create a purer, quieter environment where musical detail, clarity, and spatial definition can fully emerge.
In-House Production & Quality Control
Every Børresen Bass Module is assembled by hand at our Aalborg facility in Denmark. Our production combines advanced in-house capabilities — including CNC machining, cryogenic processing, and precision assembly — with carefully selected specialist partners. Each component is inspected, measured, and tested step by step to ensure consistency with the reference model. Final voicing is performed by ear, because every loudspeaker must sound exactly as intended before it leaves our factory.
Mechanical Grounding
Mechanical grounding plays a crucial role in the performance of the Børresen Bass Module. While its folded dipole design inherently generates fewer vibrations than conventional subwoofers, optimal results are achieved when unwanted resonances are effectively controlled. Ansuz Darkz resonance control devices decouple the bass module from the floor while providing a controlled path for internal vibrations to dissipate. This prevents resonance feedback, lowers noise, and enhances bass precision, clarity, and dynamic control — making Darkz an integral part of the BBM’s performance potential.
