Performance Within Reach

Positioned between the X-Series and C-Series, the Børresen A-Series offers an exceptional balance of performance, technology, and value. Drawing on key innovations and design principles developed for our higher-tier loudspeakers, the A-Series brings the signature Børresen listening experience to a broader audience without compromising on musicality or precision. Available in satin walnut and satin black ash real wood veneer finishes, the speakers embody contemporary Scandinavian design and craftsmanship.

The Børresen RP94 tweeter

All Børresen A-series loudspeakers are equipped with the RP94 ribbon tweeter, a highly efficient design operating from 2.5 kHz upward at 94 dB sensitivity. Its aluminium-coated nylon/aramid membrane weighs just 0.01 grams, giving the tweeter exceptionally low moving mass and enabling lightning-fast transient response. Although the motor system is fully hidden, the tweeter remains remarkably robust, maintaining linear behavior under extreme dynamic peaks with no audible distortion or breakup across its range. Its speed and stability are essential for resolving the finest micro-details, and the membrane withstands temperatures up to 600 °C without performance degradation.

The Børresen DCC5s driver

The Børresen DCC5s driver is developed with a clear objective: to achieve low distortion, fast transient response, and a high degree of control through careful optimization of both the diaphragm and motor system.

At its core is a multi-layer diaphragm consisting of an aramid honeycomb core sandwiched between two carbon fiber skins and bonded into a unified structure. This design combines high stiffness with low mass, enabling precise movement while pushing resonances beyond the driver’s critical operating range. The result is lower distortion and a more coherent overall presentation.

The motor system is engineered with equal attention to detail. A ferrite magnet structure provides strong, stable magnetic flux, while dual copper caps reduce inductance in the voice coil gap. This improves linearity, lowers distortion, and enables a faster, more precise response to the input signal.

The DCC5s driver also utilizes a titanium voice coil former. Its high rigidity and low mass improve structural stability and response speed, helping the diaphragm follow the signal with greater precision and minimal energy loss.

By combining a lightweight, high-stiffness diaphragm with a low-inductance motor system, the DCC5s driver delivers controlled, responsive performance. The result is clean, detailed, and dynamically accurate sound reproduction with exceptional clarity and coherence.

Noise Rejection

Acoustic, electrical, and airborne noise are among the primary factors limiting audio performance. At Børresen, reducing both internally generated noise and sensitivity to external interference is essential to achieving clarity, resolution, and transparency. As a result, every aspect of the A Series is designed with noise control in mind.

This approach extends from the drivers to the cabinet construction. Low-mass, high-rigidity drivers support fast, controlled movement, while the crossover is optimized for coherence and minimal signal loss. The magnet systems are engineered to reduce distortion and ensure precise control, and the cabinet structure provides effective damping and resonance control.

Together, these elements lower the overall noise floor and improve resolution, allowing the A Series to reproduce music with greater openness, detail, and coherence. While each component is highly optimized on its own, it is their seamless integration that ultimately defines the performance of the loudspeakers.

Mechanical Grounding

External vibrations from the floor, as well as internal resonances within the speaker, can influence sound reproduction if left unmanaged.

To address this, Børresen works closely with its sister company Ansuz, whose optional Darkz resonance control devices are designed to manage these effects. Constructed from exceptionally hard materials and based on a precision ball-bearing interface, Darkz devices help limit the transfer of external vibrations while providing a controlled path for internal energy dissipation.

Operating purely in the mechanical domain, Darkz reduces unwanted vibration-related feedback between the loudspeaker and its environment. The result is a more stable acoustic platform, allowing the speaker to perform with greater clarity and consistency.

All Børresen loudspeakers are designed to accommodate Ansuz Darkz devices, and their use is strongly recommended to further enhance the performance of the A Series.

All Børresen, Ansuz, Aavik & Axxess products sold by Next Level HiFi Online feature Audio Group Denmark's full 5-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear-and-tear by the user does not qualify as a defect. Next Level HiFi Online does not accept returns.
